Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the South Kent Children in Care Management Team.  This is a innovative, forward looking, dedicated management team who strives to deliver the best for children in care.    A Team Manager post has become vacant in the Ashford Children in Care Team.  The Children in Care service support children aged 0-18 including unaccompanied asylum seeking children. 

Your role will be striving for excellence for our children in care, you will have a good understanding of legal work, adoption planning and achieving permanence.  You will be passionate about ensuring our children have every opportunity to succeed and that they enjoy the magic of childhood.  You will be able to motivate and lead a team from the front, ensure that you deliver high quality supervision and that you implement a practice learning culture based on audit and good communication.  You will need to demonstrate that you can work in partnership effectively across a range of services to further outcomes for our children.    You will understand the importance of resource management which is best achieved through creative and timely care plans.  Most importantly you will have a 'can do' approach and high resilience.  You will have the opportunity to try out new ideas and to be creative in how you run the team and seek best outcomes for children.

You will be joining a stable and experienced management team and will receive excellent support and development opportunities as well as a good induction. 

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England..

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
