Team Manager

Role Responsibility

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Team Manager in our Ashford, Canterbury & Coastal Disabled Children’s Team. The team is based at the Rainbow Centre in Ashford and supports disabled children and young people up to the age of 16.   

Our team consists of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants & Occupational therapists who work closely with our colleagues in Disabled Young People's Teams, a range of teams within the Lifespan Pathway, and other key agencies, such as Health, Education and the voluntary sector.

You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent social work knowledge, skills and values to deliver the highest quality service to disabled children, their families and carers. Experience in Children’s Services would be essential, including child protection. You will need to demonstrate excellent managerial skills and be able to support and challenge professionals effectively.

You will need to be Social Work England registered with a Social Work degree (Dip SW or equivalent social work degree). You should have extensive post qualification experience, including experience of supervising staff and in-depth knowledge of legislation, policy and practice relating to Children including detailed working knowledge of Children’s safeguarding processes. You will have either management experience or specialist knowledge of this particular client group.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer-facing position.  The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.  The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
