Maidstone Children’s Social Work Services - Team Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager position in the Children’s Social Work Services Maidstone Team. You will be joining a management team that is committed to providing high quality social work services to children, young people, and their families within the Maidstone District, working closely with our multi agency partners.

As Team Manager, you will be leading a team of 5 Social Workers and a Social Work Assistant, supported by a Business Support team. You will play a key role within the management team, providing a high standard of social work to our children, young people, and their families.

You will be able to evidence extensive knowledge of child protection, and legal processes, including Public Law Outline and pre-proceedings. You will be required to provide a high-quality level of supervision through 1-1 supervision and case progressions, evidencing management oversight for the children open to your team, be competent in quality assuring the work of your team along with creating and maintaining good team atmosphere and morale.

You will be responsible for chairing strategy discussions, permanency planning meetings and other professional meetings to continue towards key decision making for children in need of our service and protection. You will be able to evidence good leadership skills and a proven track record for delivering good outcomes for children and young people.

In addition to your practice, you will need to lead, manage, and motivate a team to embed a positive performance culture and Kent Practice Framework. Above all, you’ll be focused on helping children and families to change their lives for the better. You will be required to understand and help lead the delivery on the Change for Kent Programme in the Maidstone District, working closely with Early Help and Open Access services to deliver and shape Integrated Children’s Services.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification. 

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
