Team Manager

Role Responsibility

We are seeking to appoint a Team Manager to work in the Community Mental Health team in Maidstone.  As Team Manager you will be pivotal in the day-to-day operational management of the team and be accountable for performance and adherence to National Legislation and KCC Policies and Procedures.

You will use the KCC Social Care recording system of MOSAIC to oversee new referrals to the service, assessments, care and support planning and reviews; whilst also collaborating with the Service Manager to monitor the Teams budget.  You will provide supervision to the Advanced Practitioner within the team and offer a consultative service to other members of the multi-disciplinary team being collocated with the Health Trust.  

You will also provide professional leadership for the delivery of Social Care, advising at key meetings and supporting new initiatives in Kent through the Making a Difference Everyday (MADE) programme to improve practice and services for individuals and carers. living with mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression, chronic depression, or schizophrenia.

You will be a registered social worker with a degree in Social Work, CQSW/DipSW or equivalent with a current registration with Social Work England.  You will also have a recognised Post Qualifying qualification in Leadership or Management.  Kent County Council have an accredited management programme you would be expected to undertake.

The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification, we are looking for:

- Previous experience of managing, mentoring and developing both qualified and unqualified social care staff.

- A confident manner when dealing with emergency situations, plus exceptional negotiating and interpersonal skills.

- A working knowledge of all relevant Social Care and Mental Health Legislation and Codes of Practice including statutory duties for Safeguarding.

- Experience of care and support planning and a good knowledge of national and local initiatives for social care and mental health including evaluation to improve services for individuals, their families and carers.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Closing date: Monday 19th April 2021.

Interviews will be held on the Friday 30th April 2021 where there will be a Panel and the requirement for a short presentation.

Due to the current COVID position interviews will be set up to ensure adherence to government guidelines so may not be a face-to-face interview, details will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
