Team Manager OOHs - Kent Intake Unit (KIU)

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Out of Hours Service. We are seeking to recruit a Team Manager to further develop the work of the team that responds to unaccompanied children who arrive at the Port of Dover. The role provides a unique opportunity to further develop and embed processes and procedures, embedding ways of working that continue to build the culture of good practice. To broaden social work knowledge and skills, as well as offering an alternative to standard day time working hours.

The Team is part of the Kent & Medway Out of Hours Service that provides essential Social Work cover for children and adults across Kent and Medway Services. The successful candidate will manage a team of qualified and unqualified staff and will contribute to the management and support of the wider OOH service.

Contracted hours are equivalent to 37 hrs per week, they will be worked across a rota period which will have weekend working as a priority, albeit the working hours will not solely be weekend hours. They will cover a mix of evening/night shifts, weekend shifts and Bank Holidays.

We are therefore looking for a Team Manager who;

- Is able to work evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays

- Is committed to developing and maintaining high standards

- Is resilient, flexible, adaptable, forward thinking and positive about improving services for unaccompanied children outside normal working hours

- Is able to work at speed and under pressure, whilst maintaining excellent triage, safeguarding and risk assessment skills

- Is committed to providing high quality supervision to staff, developing their skills, motivating staff and modelling good practice

- Has excellent and proven leadership skills, communication skills and is competent in and committed to the use of Information Technology

- Has experience of, or is interested in broadening their knowledge and skill base to incorporate working with Adults, including Adult Protection

- Is looking for a change from the 9–5 routine and new professional challenges

- Is able to cope with shift working

Applicants are required to hold a degree in Social Work, CQSW/DipSW or equivalent.   

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer facing position.  The Council therefore has a statutory duty under part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh Sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.  The appropriate standards are set out in the job description/person specification.
