Team Manager - Community Forensic Social Work Service

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council is looking for maternity cover for a Team Manager post within its Community Forensic Social Work Service that seeks to improve the lives of individuals on forensic Mental Health Act pathways.

You will be required to work 18.5 hours per week from approximately the end of November 2021 – up to September 2022.

This is an innovative service that works alongside Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust to support individuals in the community instead of in secure hospitals. It works to reduce inequalities and has a genuine impact on the lives of individuals, instilling hope and realising real change.

You will manage the team, playing a key role in ensuring the delivery of the Local Authorities statutory duties. You will monitor and maintain team performance, processes and practice standards ensuring person-centred, strengths and rights-based approaches are utilised as standard. You will manage resources appropriately and effectively and develop and sustain relationships with partners to support a seamless pathway into the community. You will address challenges and barriers to the pathway with a range of stakeholders.

You will have experience of management and leadership in either mental health, learning disability or autism settings and knowledge and experience of, working within complex legal frameworks and interagency contexts and of risk management.  

The service is based at the Trevor Gibbens Unit in Maidstone, Kent but you will be working across a wide geographical area so the ability to travel in a timely manner according to business need is essential.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
