Support Worker

Role Responsibility

We have an exciting opportunity within Community Services, for a Support Worker, this is a 37 hour per week post. 

This position will be primarily based at Dartford and Swanley Community Services, however, you will be expected to travel across the locality to support other services within Kent as required.  You will assist in the day-to-day supervision of staff, including the allocation of tasks, ensuring that the service meets the needs and aspirations of people accessing the services. Ensuring individuals are encouraged and supported; promoting social inclusion, including their rights and choices, to enable people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live more independent and fulfilled lives.

Relevant experience of care and support of individuals (this can include voluntary experience and individual experiences as well as paid work), including within the public, private or voluntary sectors in the care of adults, working with people with learning disabilities is essential. You will need to have an awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities. 


- Hold or willingness to undertake your Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent

- Excellent communication and listening skills

- Ability to establish a rapport with people with learning disabilities and their family/carers

- Ability to encourage and support others to be independent 

- Excellent organisational and time management skills

- Able to work alone and use initiative

- Creativity and problem-solving skills.

- Awareness of and commitment to the ‘promoting independence’ and ‘person-centred’ ethos of the Service 

- Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)

- Awareness and understanding of Adult Safeguarding policies and procedures.
