Support Worker

We are looking for two part time support workers to join our team at Rusthall residential service in the village of Rusthall near Tunbridge Wells.

Rusthall offers short break stays for up to five people giving them and their caregiver a break. It’s a really rewarding role and due to the service offering short breaks you get to know lots of different people who come at stay at Rusthall, every stay is different.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a positive and caring attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly.

The two roles we are looking to recruit to are 16 hours which will typically be working an afternoon shift, sleeping over and then a morning shift and for the 23 hour role, the same but with an additional late or early shift. You may also be needed to support the occasional waking night.

You will receive comprehensive training and induction, as well as ongoing support and supervision. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and qualifications through our learning and development programme.

As a support worker at Rusthall, you will make a difference to the lives of the people who come to stay with us. You will help them to enjoy their break, engage in meaningful activities, and achieve their goals. You will also support them with their personal care, medication, and health needs, as well as maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for them. You will work closely with the families and carers of the people we support, as well as other professionals and agencies involved in their care.

The yearly salary (pro-rota) is between £25,127 to £26,383 pro rota, that’s £13.06 to £13.71 an hour. With enhancements for bank holidays, an allowance of £40.76 for sleep in duties with the potential to work overtime it does increase the basic salary. Just adding a sleep-in duty once a week to your basic salary could give you an extra £2k a year.

Expectations:

- You will need to hold a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards achieving this within two years of employment.

- You will also be expected to complete your Care Certificate if you do not already hold this.

- You will have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and/or Autism.

- You will possess knowledge of safeguarding.

- You must be able to take personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance.

This post involves working closely with children and adults, this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
