Streetworks Inspector

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council Highways has a vital role to play in ensuring the County stays on the move by maintaining and enhancing our road networks. Reducing congestion is a key role for the KCC Street Works section, with their work designed to meet the mission statement “manage the use of Kent’s roads to help people make safe and reliable journeys”.

KCC Highways is looking for a Street Works Inspector to support the delivery of their objectives through proactive inspection of road/street works and activities on Kent’s network.

You will support the Streetworks coordinator in all aspects of Street Works service across the county and be responsible for inspection of works sites ensuring a high level of safety.

With an accreditation in Street Works, you will have proven experience of dealing with traffic management issues and a familiarity with reinstatement specifications. You will also be well-organised with effective communication skills and an awareness of relevant legislation.

You should have a sound knowledge of all Microsoft office applications and have a high level of computer literacy.

As the team operates in a highly reactive work environment you should be able to prioritise your own workload, work to tight deadlines, be methodical in your approach, use initiative and operate with minimum supervision.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
