Staff Officer

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated individual to be the new Staff Officer to the CYPE Corporate Director, Matt Dunkley.  This is a permanent position and will lead the Management Team’s new Executive and Business Support function. 

The purpose of this role is to provide a comprehensive, co-ordinated and efficient executive and business support to Matt and his Management Team. 

We want someone who has a good understanding of Local Government Children’s Social Care and Education and KCC’s democratic process. You must have excellent communication and diplomacy skills and the ability to work in a confidential environment with integrity.  You will need to be reliable, flexible, and resilient whilst able to stay focussed and motivated. The ability to remain calm when facing many conflicting priorities as well as being able to interpret complex issues as they emerge is key within this position.  Other requirements are:

  • Excellent project management and research skills working in a highly political and strategic environment.
  • Ability to interpret policy and legislation in the development of strategic proposals.
  • High level written and oral communication skills.
  • Recent line management and supervision experience
  • Proven experience of providing excellent executive support to senior managers.
  • Recent experience of working within Local Government. 
  • Knowledge of Children’s Social Care and Education
