Role Responsibility

Are you a social worker with experience working with children, young people and families and interested in a great opportunity to join a specialist team?

We are looking to recruit a social worker to work with deaf, deaf/blind and visually impaired children, young people and their families within the 0 – 25 Strengthening Independence Service.  We offer a county wide service to children and young people between the ages of 0 – 25 and have flexible bases to work from including home working where appropriate.

The team comprises of motivated and experienced staff who are committed to making a difference. Your work will include new referrals for assessment of need, planning, implementing and reviewing actions to safeguard and protect the wellbeing of children and young people with Sensory needs as well as supporting children who are in need as well as looked after children. You will be involved in developing new initiatives and partnerships with children, young people, parents and partner agencies.

We have a supportive team of deaf and hearing people, regular supervision and a significant investment in training and career development.  This includes statutory and generic training opportunities as well as specialist training in sensory skills and British Sign Language.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
