Social Worker - West Kent Disabled Children’s Team 2

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council’s Strengthening Independence Service is recognised for the outstanding support provided by its Social Workers, whose care and commitment shines through their work (Ofsted 2022).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Social Worker with post ASYE experience in the West Kent Disabled Children’s Team 2. Our team consists of Senior Practitioners, Social Workers and Social Work Assistants who work closely with our colleagues in Disabled Young People’s Social Work Teams and other key agencies, such as Health, Education and the voluntary sector.

The team covers a large geographical area and there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area covered by the team.

You will be working with disabled children aged between 0 and 15 and their families. The role within our team will enable you to gain further experience in a range of work, including supporting Children in Need, Children in Care and Child Protection, Court work, as well as supporting children and young people as they progress towards adulthood.

You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent social work knowledge, skills and values to deliver the highest quality service to disabled children, disabled young people, their families and carers.

You will hold a degree in social work (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England and have post-qualification experience of working with children and/or adults and their families.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Kent County Council offers a hybrid working model with a combination of home and office working. The contractual base is in Worrall House, Kings Hill, West Malling.
