Social Worker - Older People and People with Physical Disability Team

Role Responsibility

We are looking for a Qualified and Registered Social Worker to join our busy but exciting, Older People and People with Physical Disability Team (OPPD), East Kent, based at Brook House, Whitstable.  

You will be responsible for managing a caseload and carrying out short term intensive interventions with clients. The focus will be on undertaking robust, strength-based assessments working collaboratively with people to take control and improve their lives at a time when their security, safety or ability to participate in life or society may be restricted. A primary aspect of the role will be to ensure that the work carried out has focused outcomes and is completed within the 12 - 16 week guidelines.

We are committed to providing regular supervision which will be provided by the Senior Practitioner in the area and will ensure time is allowed for critical reflection of work undertaken. We aim to promote the retention of our social work staff through ensuring that individual professional development needs are considered. We work with Practice Advisors who offer additional support including 1:1 reflective support, practice development workshops, complex casework support.

Contracted hours will be 37 hours per week.  Mileage expenses are payable and applicants will be expected to be able to travel across a geographic area which may not be easily accessible by public transport.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
