Social Worker Assistant - Community Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker Assistant to support the Learning Disability and Disabled Young People’s Teams across Kent. The role focuses on supporting with the completion of Community Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) applications to the Court of Protection.  You will be required to be involved in Capacity Assessments, Best Interest Meetings as well as coordinating contributions from other Parties and will be able to demonstrate good report writing skills for submission to Court. You will also need to demonstrate a high level of skills in developing effective professional relationships with frontline social care staff, other professionals, service users, carers and families in supporting them through the Community DoLS application process.

The Teams cover a large geographical area and there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area.

You will have a variety of experience of working with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards in learning disability settings.  

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
