Social Work Assistant - Sensory Services
Role Responsibility
A new opportunity has arisen for a part-time Social Work Assistant to work with deaf, deaf/blind and visually impaired children, young people and their families within the Strengthening Independence Service. We offer a county wide service to children and young people up to the age of 18. Kent County Council offers a hybrid working model with a combination of home and office working. We have flexible bases to work from across the county.
We are seeking a flexible, highly motivated person to carry a child in need caseload and carry out a variety of tasks including direct work with families and children.
A high standard of written English is an important requirement as all team members must be able to produce a good standard of report writing and maintain accurate, comprehensive written records. Excellent organisational skills, communication and IT skills are also essential.
We have a supportive team of deaf and hearing people, regular supervision and a significant investment in training and career development. This includes statutory and generic training opportunities as well as specialist training in sensory skills and British Sign Language.
You will need to demonstrate an ability to engage with children, young people, their families and carers coupled with the integrity to work within a confidential, professional environment. We will be looking for someone with an understanding of the rewards and challenges of caring for a child with Sensory Needs. In return you will be provided with support and opportunities to develop your own knowledge and skills further with regular supervision. Bespoke training will also be provided.
If you would welcome the opportunity to join a friendly team in a worthwhile and challenging role, we would like to hear from you.
