Social Work Assistant - Canterbury Social Work Teams

Role Responsibility

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and committed Social Work Assistant to join Specialist Children’s Services within the Canterbury Children’s Social Work Teams, where the focus is on achieving better outcomes for children and families and to ensure that children are safeguarded. We are looking to recruit an innovative and passionate Social Work Assistant that would be able to support social workers to ensure the best outcomes for children. The focus of the support would include short pieces of change promotion work with families to help them make and sustain improvements in their parenting and guided pieces of direct work with children. As Specialist Children’s Services we work with Children in Care, Children in Need and Children in Need of Protection.

This role requires strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and an understanding of the needs of children and families. Good IT skills and system understanding is essential.

You will need to be able to work as part of a team and have a good understanding of multi-agency work. You will have significant experience of working with parents and children in a similar statutory role. You will have an NVQ Level 3 in childcare or equivalent. The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

You will receive quality monthly supervision, enjoy good support from peers and have access to a wide range of training opportunities.
