Role Responsibility

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our small team to develop and deliver social and digital media content as well as digital marketing campaigns for the Public Protection* Group of services. This is an exciting time to be working with Public Protection as it is at the forefront of supporting communities, residents and businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. We need a committed team player to support the Public Protection Services by increasing service engagement with the target audiences, raising awareness of the services and promoting commercial business services through effective online marketing and communication.

You don’t need to have lots of experience but you do need to have the relevant knowledge, training and skills to deliver effective social media communications and digital marketing campaigns, including the production and editing of videos. You will receive support, coaching and guidance from a social media / digital marketing expert to develop your skills and knowledge further and to implement what you have learnt.

For the foreseeable future, the post holder will be required to work from home but must be able travel to Maidstone, Kent (or other locations in Kent) for meetings as and when required. This post is offered as a 9 month contract to support the Public Protection Commercial and Customer Information Team during a period of maternity leave.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

*For the purposes of this role, KCC’s Public Protection Group includes Trading Standards, Kent Scientific Services Laboratory, Community Safety Unit, Intelligence Service, Resilience & Emergency Planning.
