Serious Organised Crime Project Officer
Role Responsibility
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to become the Serious Organised Crime (SOC) Project Officer working within our small team. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to support on a variety of new and existing projects.
The Government set the framework to tackle SOC in its national strategy in 2018. This outlines the key areas as follows:-
- target and relentlessly disrupt the SOC criminals and networks that cause the most harm.
- build the highest levels of defence and resilience in vulnerable people, communities, businesses and systems.
- stop the problem at source, and identify and support those at risk of engaging in criminality; and
- establish a single, whole system approach
The post holder will support the team deliver the KCC SOC strategy and action plan (utilising a four P approach; Prevent, Protect, Prepare and Pursue) and work closely in partnership with Kent Police and other relevant organisations.
The Project Officer must be resilient, adaptable, confident, and motivated to support deliver SOC preventative activity across Kent. Essential skills for the role include being innovative, able to work under pressure / tight timescales, constantly be forward thinking and work with guidance / instructions, overcoming obstacles along the way.
You must be able to demonstrate good process mapping and analytical skills; to interpret data and identify opportunities. You will be well supported in gaining valuable experience and developing your project management skillset.
This is a high-profile role position supporting the co-ordinate and delivery of SOC and Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking (MSHT) preventative activity across Kent.
You will be politically astute, with an understanding of the wider political landscape, including its impacts on individuals, communities and on KCC. You will have excellent communication skills and will be expected to represent the organisation at various internal and external meetings and engage with districts and boroughs and voluntary organisations. You will be highly motivated in addressing SOC issues and raising awareness at all levels of the organisation, as well as externally.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

The post will report to the SOC Coordinator.
