Senior Therapist - Special Guardian & Therapeutic Fostering Support Team

Role Responsibility

£43,810 to £49,989 per annum, in addition you may be eligible for an annual £2,000 car market

We are seeking to recruit a therapist within the newly established Therapeutic Fostering and Special Guardian Support Team. 

It is an exciting time to join KCC Fostering Kinship service as we establish a new team to support families who are caring for children under a Special Guardianship Order. 

We are a motivated Fostering Service who are passionate about and committed to supporting children and their families into adulthood where the children are subject to a Special Guardianship Order. We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist, Systemic Family Therapist or Counselling Psychologist to join our service as a Senior Therapist..

You will provide trauma-informed, therapeutic interventions to children and their families who are subject to Special Guardianship Orders. We take a child-centred approach and believe each family is unique. We offer varied therapeutic interventions such as: parent work, family work, individual work, groups and consultation with the network. Our team draws on a range of therapeutic models and theories including: Attachment, Regulation and Competency Model (ARC), Systemic, Developmental Trauma, Attachment, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Theraplay, Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), Life-Story Work, Narrative, and Sensory Integration. 

We strongly believe in the value of multi-disciplinary working and supporting professional development and growth. Our teams consists of: Social Workers, Therapists and Social Work Assistants.  We are passionate about team working and our regular team meetings form a core part of our approach. We would welcome someone who shares these values.

If you have clinical experience, with children who have experienced developmental trauma or have been in care, work well with complexity and want to be part of a growing, trauma-informed service then we would be keen to hear from you.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and a relevant professional qualification (Therapeutic) as well as up to date registration with the appropriate professional body.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
