Senior Team Leader

Role Responsibility

Bluebells Short Breaks Unit provides overnight short breaks for children and young people with learning disabilities and associated complex health needs from the ages of 5 to 18 years old. We are currently rated as 'Good' by Ofsted (January 2020).

We are seeking a motivated and inspiring Senior Team Leader to join our team on a part-time basis, working 30 hours per week across 5 days. You will need to demonstrate experience of working directly with children and young people with learning disabilities. The job requires an ability to manage staff rotas, ensure accurate record keeping, liaising with external professionals, care planning and providing staff supervision to maintain high standards of care. You will also be responsible for inducting new staff and processing new referrals to the service.

You will be expected to deputise for the Registered Manager as required to meet the needs of the service. This may include overseeing monitoring and quality assurance, budget management, attending external meetings (including children/young people's review meetings and wider-service leadership meetings), chairing in-house team meetings and covering shifts as required.

You will need to hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent. 

Interviews will be conducted under the ‘Choosing with Care’ assessment process which will include a group assessment, written exercise, personal profiling and formal interview. Please note that the interview process for this role may occur over a 2-day period.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. This post involves working closely with children and young people and is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
