Senior Stakeholder Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

The Highways and Transportation (H&T) division is right at the heart of Kent County Council’s business; one of the largest Local Authorities in England. Most journeys made in this country are short and local. They are the journeys that we all make, if not every day, many times a month. Our work makes a huge difference to the daily lives of millions, across Kent, whether they are by bus, tram, walking or cycling. Our work is front and centre of all of the Council’s strategic priority outcomes. H&T’s work improves transport for its users (ensuring accessible public transport or supporting the sector to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic); helps decarbonise transport (through encouraging more public and active transport journeys or stimulating demand for zero emission buses) and grows and levels up the economy (such as via the Levelling Up Fund).

We are seeking a high performing individual to take on the role of Senior Stakeholder Officer for the division. We are looking for someone, who is able to work in a fast-paced environment and can confidently communicate at all levels with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.  Part of the role will include the support, coaching and mentoring of junior officers and apprentices.

The post holder must be exceptionally organised, able to demonstrate good judgement and time management to prioritise urgent requests and monitor progress on key tasks. A flexible approach to work is required to accommodate an often-demanding environment with the ability to work quickly while remaining calm under pressure.

Working in a small team, the Senior Stakeholder Officer will be the key conduit between the Heads of departments and their services to provide professional and timely responses to the citizens of Kent, the Council members, and internal stakeholders.  They will assist the Stakeholder Supervisor with collating, analysing and reporting performance in order to improve business delivery and will strive for continuous improvement.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Interview dates will be the 1st and 2nd March.
