Senior Project Officer

Role Responsibility

We are looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Project Officer to help us develop and deliver our plans to achieve our climate change commitments. If you have experience of programme or project management, strong partnership skills and excellent knowledge of environmental issues, then we would like to hear from you.

The Sustainable Business and Communities team deliver a range of Environment Strategy initiatives to support the low carbon economy and help residents, businesses and public sector services become more resource efficient and resilient to climate change. We have recently published the Kent and Medway Energy and Low Emissions Strategy and are now looking for someone to co-ordinate our plans, track and monitor progress and deliver specific projects in line with APM project management principles.

The main purpose of this role is to undertake medium-term project/programme planning to monitor and communicate the Kent and Medway Energy and Low Emissions Strategy action plan, engaging with services across the Council and wider public sector, you will also provide expert-level input to deliver specific projects or initiatives.

Portfolio, programme and project management plays a core role in the successful delivery of our work.  You will have the support of and be part of a community of programme and project management practitioners who provide expertise across all our services. 

You’ll need excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage a broad programme of activity, engaging with contacts internally and externally. Your enthusiasm for the environment will allow you to fit quickly into this established, hardworking team.

Please note that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the team are currently home working and interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams.

The post is being offered as a two-year fixed term contract.

Interviews for the role will take place on 5th / 6th November 2020.
