Senior Project Manager
Role Responsibility
1 Year Fixed Term Contract
What’s the challenge ahead?
Social care and health services have undoubtedly been at the forefront of the pandemic response and the public conscience in recent years. Following on from this, there are national changes ahead for social care. In Kent, we are seizing this opportunity to look at things differently and make lasting positive changes alongside the people we support, providers and our key partner organisations.
As a country, we face significant challenges in the years ahead. People are living longer with more long term conditions, which has a knock-on effect on the complexity of support that health and social care need to provide and the resources that are available.
We recognise the need to tackle these issues in innovative ways and are committed to maintaining high quality services and improving them. We have initiated a new programme to action the changes proposed by central government towards Social Care Reform.
With Covid-19 still impacting demand for services and budgets across Health and Social Care, we’ll need to put our programme into action as soon as possible. The changes proposed are complex and far reaching, requiring a collective effort from colleagues across the organisation and our partners in the health sector to be able to deliver visible results.
This is an exciting time to be involved in our work, with great potential to improve things for our residents and make a positive impact.
How can you help make a difference in Kent?
To help us achieve our ambitions, we have a dedicated Innovation Delivery Team to drive and deliver successful change within the organisation. We are offering an unique opportunity to be part of this team within the Adult Social Care and Health (ASCH) directorate. The right person will be able to hit the ground running, by overseeing a variety of new and existing high-profile projects that will help contribute towards the organisation’s strategic objectives.
We are looking for someone with unmatched experience and in-depth knowledge of project management and very strong communication skills, as you will be working closely with senior stakeholders across the council. Depending on the project, you may also need to work closely with our external partners / providers. The successful person will have proven experience of effective stakeholder management and be able to drive work forward, managing teams and stakeholders appropriately to remove blockers and ensure the project stays on track.
In this Senior Project Manager role you will be overseeing high-priority projects at a strategic level. You may have a small number of projects of your own, and you may need to act as deputy for the Programme Manager where needed. You will also have line management responsibilities for a number of Project Managers, and will therefore play a vital role in supporting the team to continuously develop and improve.
Are you the person we’re looking for?
As a Senior Project Manager you will support your Project Managers to resolve conflicts and remove barriers. Compassion and the ability to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels is highly essential – keeping the people we support at the heart of everything we do is a core value of Adult Social Care and Health.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent project management skills from conception to delivery, including financial monitoring; planning; improvement cycles; the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities; and the ability to present this information to a wide and diverse audience. Leadership, interpersonal, negotiation and motivational qualities are absolutely essential.
