Senior Practitioner

Role Responsibility

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Senior Practitioner in the West Kent Disabled Young People's team.  The Team Office base is Worrall House, West Malling however there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole West Kent area covered by the team.

You will be involved in assessing the needs of disabled young people aged 16 to 25 as they transition into adulthood and planning with them to support the development of their skills and independence. You will undertake Mental Capacity Assessments, chair Best Interests Meetings and complete complex court work, including applications to the Court of Protection.

A role model for good practice and champion for your area of expertise, you will set performance expectations, supervise, coach and mentor less experienced staff. You will supervise social workers and social work assistants and take the lead in delivering reflective practice sessions to the team.

You will support the team manager, providing cover in their absence, for example chairing team meetings and overseeing the work of the team.

You need to be Social Work England registered with a CQSW, DipSW or equivalent social work degree, and in addition you should have substantial and varied experience of working with children and young people and their carers and families. Experience in either Children’s or Adult’s Services is essential, including child protection and/or adult safeguarding and an in-depth knowledge of legislation and policies relating to both children and adults.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
