Senior Practitioner

Role Responsibility

We are currently seeking to recruit to a part-time Senior Practitioner to the Front Door Service.  The post is for 3 days per week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), and will work in one of our busy teams receiving Requests for Support and new referrals, gathering further information and making enquiries as necessary to determine the correct level of support required for children, young people and their families.

Successful applicants will hold a degree in social work, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent and  will have a variety of post-qualification experience of working within Children’s Services.  They will provide support to the Team Manager, have the ability to deputise in the Managers absence as well as Chairing Strategy Meetings and working through complex cases in a calm and efficient manner within a pressured environment. It will be essential therefore to have excellent communication and literacy skills.

Successful applicants will work within a duty rota system with their other team members, utilising core social work skills in risk, assessment and analysis.

This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer facing position.  The Council therefore has a statutory duty under part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh Sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.  The appropriate standards are set out in the job description/person specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
