Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley Promoting Independence Team for a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist. This service assesses and provides solutions to enable older people and adults with physical disabilities, to maximise their independence.

Our Occupational Therapists provide holistic, person-centred assessments, identify goals, support enablement workers to deliver purposeful interventions, prescribe specialist equipment and adaptations and work with the Local District Councils to arrange major adaptations in people’s homes.

We are looking for a dynamic and confident practitioner with experience of working in a fast-paced, high pressured environment. You should have a diverse range of post qualifying experience within health and social care, as well as experience of major adaptations and specialist equipment.

You will be leading and managing the team’s performance to provide a high quality occupational therapy service across the geographical area. You must have a proven track record of managing complex case work and supporting, supervising and developing both qualified and unqualified staff. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to effectively manage your own time and the team’s workload, using available data tools.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as you will be working in partnership with professionals in and external to KCC. You will also be working jointly with another Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to manage the team and must therefore work in active partnership with them to ensure that service needs are met. Therefore you will excel in your collaboration and negotiation skills.

Adult Social Care and Health operates with modernised office processes and performance management systems. The service is also increasingly accessible to the public outside of traditional office hours, as we move towards an 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week service. OPPD staff and managers are increasingly working on a rota basis to ensure service needs are met.

This post holder is responsible for ensuring that all Safeguarding Policies are adhered to and concerns are raised in accordance with these.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and a relevant professional qualification (Occupational Therapy) as well as up to date registration with the appropriate professional body.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
