Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist

Role Responsibility

At Kent County Council, Occupational Therapy is viewed as a critical service in enabling people to live their lives in the way that most matters to them. Our Community Occupational Therapy Teams are co-located with our in-house enablement services, and work alongside our Community Social Work, Adult Social Care Connect and Short-term pathway teams. This gives us the opportunity to work in a co-ordinated, preventative, and creative way to maximise people’s independence.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist to join our Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells Community OT Team. The role will require you to lead a team of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assessment Officers, to support day to day clinical practice and team performance.  It will require liaison with the Connect, Kent Enablement at Home and Community Social Work teams to facilitate the role of OT in preventing, reducing and delaying the need for care and support whilst supporting individuals’ independence within their own homes.

We offer an excellent induction and ongoing training package. This includes opportunities for you to develop your leadership and management skills, and to facilitate expertise within moving and handling, enablement techniques, specialist equipment and major adaptations, thus ensuring that the people we support receive high quality, personalised interventions that genuinely improve lives. You will receive regular individual supervision from the Operational Manager and a tailored personal development plan to enable you to develop your career pathway within Kent and be the best that you can be.

Kent County Council is committed to flexible and hybrid working opportunities and although we complete our assessments and interventions within a person’s own residence or short-term assessment bed setting, our Occupational Therapy staff work their non-clinical time between an office base and/or their home attending the office base at least twice a week.

Kent County Council is also committed to ensuring that it is increasingly accessible to the public outside of traditional office hours and although Occupational Therapists are not working on a rota basis to deliver a service seven days per week, this may be required in the future.

This role is subject to holding a Full UK Driving Licence – The Council is committed to making reasonable adjustments so whilst this job requires the jobholder to drive your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.

We are committed to service user and carer involvement and seek to involve service users and carers in our recruitment processes.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
