Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist - West Kent team

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist in the West Kent Team.

The remit of the team is to ensure that interventions are in place for service users to promote independence following a person centred assessment. This will be through the provision of equipment/adaptations and enablement working within a team, other professionals and partner agencies to maximise independence and rehabilitation opportunities for service users.

We are looking for motivated, experienced professionals who are interested in working within the Short Term Pathways as part of the Occupational Therapy Team, and keen to work with Acute, Community Hospitals. The successful applicant also needs to be flexible in their approach and committed to working in an integrated team and ready to embrace new ways of working, to help further shape our services.

The successful individual will be able to demonstrate an ability to manage their own time, prioritise and delegate their own and the teamwork load.

You will provide casework/clinical supervision to the Occupational Therapy team to ensure professional delivery of case management practice and assist the Team Manager in the operational management of the staff.  Experience of working in Social Care and knowledge of major adaptations and equipment will be essential. You will be required to take the lead on certain senior operational duties for the team as agreed with the Team Manager.

The service is also increasingly accessible to the public outside of traditional office hours, as we move towards an 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week service. OPPD staff and managers are increasingly working on a rota basis to ensure service needs are met.  The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential. You should note that public transport is rarely a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have limited public transport.

Whilst mainly working from home at the current time, a fixed working base will be discussed at interview.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Occupational Therapist with Health and Care Professions Council.
