Senior Practitioner - Disabled Young People's Team in West Kent
Role Responsibility
An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Senior Practitioner in the Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and Swale Disabled Young People’s Team in West Kent. The team has been in place for four years and therefore this is an exciting time to join a growing and dynamic team as we build and consolidate good practice in this area of social work.
The successful applicant will be supporting a team of Social Workers and Social Work Assistants providing high quality social work supervision and timely services to disabled young people, aged 16-25.
The team has responsibility for children in need, children in care and those children and young people in need of safeguarding, supporting with care, accommodation and educational needs, whilst encouraging independence and overseeing smooth transitions to the 26+ Community Learning Disability Team.
You will be involved in assessing the needs of disabled young people aged between 16 and 25. You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent social work knowledge, skills and values to deliver the highest quality service to disabled young people, their families and carers. Experience in Adults Services would be essential, including Adult Protection.
The team covers a large geographical area with bases in Gravesend and Sittingbourne and there would be an expectation that you are able to work flexibly across the whole area covered by the team.
You will hold a degree in Social Work (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England and have a variety of post-qualification experience of working with young people and/or adults and their families.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
