Senior Imports Compliance Officer

Role Responsibility

Kent Trading Standards is looking for a self-motivated individual who has excellent supervisory skills and excels in working in a fast-paced environment to supervise the day-to-day activities of the Ports compliance team based in Dover. You will provide daily support to the team and help determine if imported goods are safe to enter the United Kingdom and be used by the public. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring service delivery across the teamThey must be able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving and communication skills.  

Along with having an enquiring mind the post holder must have an attention to detail along with the ability to work within a team environment 

As part of the UK Border Controls, collaborative working is essential. A key requirement of the post is to objectively assess and prioritise the workload of the team along with their own. A willingness to actively engage in the work of the unit to ensure that deadlines are met is paramount. 

The post holder may be required to work at other locations to meet the needs of the service.  The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

The post holder must be vetted to an enhanced level (this will be arranged for you).  

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
