Senior Family Hub Practitioner 11-19 (25)

Role Responsibility

At Kent County Council, our Family Hubs are vibrant community spaces where families with children aged 0–19 (or up to 25 with SEND) can access a wide range of support. From midwifery and health visiting to parenting advice and youth activities, we’re here to help families thrive. With 56 hubs across Kent, we work hand-in-hand with partners to make a real difference.

Senior Family Hub Practitioner 11–19

Are you passionate about making a real impact in the lives of young people and their families? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, community-focused environment? If so, we want you to join our team as a Senior Family Hub Practitioner.  We are based in Swanley Family Hub but travel will be required to our other Family Hub in Edenbridge.

What you’ll do:

  • Operate at the heart of our Family Hub team, delivering targeted 1:1 support, parenting groups, and topic-based interventions for young people and their families—both in our hubs and through outreach, including home visits.
  • Provide expert guidance to colleagues, championing adolescent development and contextual safeguarding.
  • Lead and supervise Family Hub practitioners, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based interventions and reflective practice.
  • Work flexibly across the 11–19 age range (and up to 25 for young people with SEND), supporting families with complex needs and helping to prevent escalation of risk.
  • Collaborate with schools, police, health, and community partners to shape services that respond to local needs and empower families to thrive.
  • Take the lead on specialist areas (such as SEND), contribute to safeguarding strategies, and ensure the voice of young people is central to all planning and delivery.
  • You will be expected to operate a Whole Family approach in their practice and work around the times of the family. As such, this post will be expected to work flexibly including, on occasions, at evening and weekends, and will be coordinated by Management as required.

What we’re looking for:

  • A relevant degree or Level 5+ professional qualification (e.g., Social Work, Youth Work, Education) or extensive experience in social care, health, education, or youth justice.
  • Proven experience engaging young people and families, delivering programmes, and working in multi-agency settings.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate teams and build trusting relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, adolescent development, diversity, and the challenges facing young people today.

Why join us?

  • Be part of a compassionate, innovative, and inclusive team that values curiosity, bravery, and working together.
  • Enjoy a flexible, agile working environment where your ideas and expertise help shape the future of family support in Kent.
  • Make a tangible difference—every day.
