Senior Early Help Worker

Role Responsibility

KCC Early Help and Preventative Services work with children, young people and families and provision is designed to promote their resilience, not reliance. To achieve this, we provide a full range of open access and targeted responses through our Children’s Centres and Youth Hubs.  Every child and young person, from pre-birth to age 19 (25) years and their family, who need early help will receive this in a timely and responsive way, so that they are safeguarded, their educational, social and emotional needs are met and outcomes are good, and they are able to contribute positively to their communities now and in the future, including their active engagement in learning and employment.  

Here in the Sevenoaks District we have the opportunity for a Senior Early Help Worker to join our Open Access Children’s Centre Team.  There are 5 Children's Centres based in the Sevenoaks District which covers a wide geographical area from Swanley to Edenbridge.   

You will be responsible for managing an effective and responsive Children’s Centre service delivery and encouraging families and their children (0-8 years) to participate in Early Years activities. There will be times when you will providing additional support to targeted Under 8’s and their families, where needs have been identified and you will be responsible for carrying a small caseload.

You will be able to gather and interpret information/data from a range of sources and you will have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection and relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks. You will have current knowledge in Early Years policy and practice to enable delivery of high quality provision. You will contribute to the leadership team for Sevenoaks Children’s Centres.  You will manage a team of Early Help Support Workers and you will need to work collaboratively to innovate and find new solutions, taking personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance and those of the team you manage. The right person will have the ability to create rapport and build relationships with a range of partner agencies across the Early Years sector.

The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
