Senior Compliance Officer
Role Responsibility
Here at Kent County Council, we’ve got big ambitions for our 1.6 million residents. It means that we do some challenging, varied and rewarding work, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our services. That’s where you come in. Joining the largest county in the UK, you’ll help every child and adult on their journey – and continue your own.
The Public Transport department is responsible for the provision of a range of client transport services and associated activities across the County; we support the local public bus network, coordinate concessionary fares schemes and contract with local transport providers to provide bespoke transport services for the Council’s clients.
The Senior Compliance Officer leads a small but very busy team responsible for a varied range of activities ensuring that our supplier base remains compliant and operational issues are addressed promptly. Our clients attend over 400 different establishments within Kent and beyond and we contract with over 300 suppliers to get them there, by providing taxis and minibuses to coaches and buses. You’ll ensure that the services upon which they travel meet the Council’s contractual requirements and, in conjunction with a range of regulatory partners, ensure that issues of non-compliance are addressed. You’ll support the process of onboarding new suppliers, ensuring DBS checks are up to date, service complaints are managed and a range of associated tasks.
You’ll work collaboratively with a range of contacts and create positive working relationships with our suppliers; your insights mean that you’ll identify any concerns and spot opportunities for improvement with a strong focus on service delivery. To succeed, you’ll be organised, passionate about supporting the people of Kent, and have a sound understanding of the Council’s role regarding client transport. You’ll be confident, professional and assertive when talking to different people from a range of backgrounds, in potentially challenging situations. Plus, you’ll be self-motivated, able work well within a busy environment in the office, and occasionally on-site at schools to support service inspections, and enjoy the freedom of managing your own workload.
In return, you’ll enjoy an excellent work-life balance, have access to great rewards via our exclusive schemes and have the opportunity to be part of a range of work-based groups.
