Senior Attendance Enforcement Officer (Courts)

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

The Attendance Enforcement Team is seeking to appoint a Senior Attendance Enforcement Officer based at Sessions House, Maidstone.

Ensuring good school attendance is a key issue, especially for vulnerable groups where early indications of other more serious underlying problems can be reflected in erratic or poor attendance.

In our drive to support a reduction in school absence across Kent, KCC will take robust legal action when parents allow their children to miss school without a good reason and when early intervention and support has failed to improve school attendance.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team with multiple priorities and where work needs to be carried out efficiently, precisely and at a fast pace. It is therefore essential that the applicant thrives in a pressurised and demanding environment and has a high level of resilience.

You will be required to provide advice on applying, preparing, and processing Education Supervision Orders, School Attendance Orders, and prosecutions as well as processing penalty notices in relation to pupils’ absence and exclusion from school. You will represent KCC in the Magistrates and Family Courts across the County.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Interview date(s): 18 November 2020
