An exciting opportunity has emerged within the PR, Inclusion and Attendance Service (PIAS), part of the Integrated Adolescent Service, to recruit an individual with determination to make a difference to the lives of children and young people in Kent.

We are looking for a practitioner with comprehensive knowledge and an experienced background within the education field to join the West Kent team as a School Liaison Officer. Please note this is a full time, term time only position (37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year).

You will be a highly professional practitioner who provides guidance to schools, parents and multi-agency partners regarding the statutory requirements relating to school attendance set out by the Department for Education.

Integrated and preventative working is fundamental to our practice therefore you will have excellent communication skills, take a solution focused approach when dealing with complex and challenging situations, and able to build and maintain robust networks with a wide variety of practitioners.

There are occasions when statutory processes must be followed and legal intervention pursued by the LA against parents who fail to secure their children’s school attendance, therefore a high standard of report writing and attention to detail whilst meeting tight deadlines is essential.

This role will require visiting family homes of children and young people. The ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day and on occasion outside of core business hours will be required.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position.
