Safer Road Users Officer

Role Responsibility

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Safer Road User Behavioural Change Team. 

The role of the officer is to engage with communities in Kent, using publicity, education and training pitched at different life stages.  Through interventions, engagement and media campaigns you will influence people using our road network, enabling them to make safer choices in their travel behaviours. You will have responsibility for the creation and delivery of projects within an allocated age range.

The officer undertaking will focus on two specialisms, within the role responsibilities.  The portfolio age range for their road user group will be 50years+ and they will also have responsibility for motorcyclists of all ages,you may have some knowledge or experience of powered two wheels.
 

This role directly contributes to KCC’s Vision Zero strategy and aims to reduce death and life-changing injuries associated to roads in Kent. The interventions you design will target the Fatal Four, as well as highlighting safer choices for active and independent travel as an alternative to vehicles.  We work closely with partners to ensure our tone of voice and campaign messages are consistent.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate qualifications or experience in competencies relating to; creating and facilitating educational packages,  briefing and managing projects, evaluating and reviewing educational performance.   Specialised training in aspects of behaviour change techniques will be provided to the successful candidate. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This full-time role will be able to utilise hybrid working with a mix of working from the office and from home. The office base would be Kroner House, Ashford or Aylesford Highway Depot, which can be agreed with the successful candidate upon appointment.  Applicants should note that the nature of the role may require some evening or weekend working.
