Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is funding a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Kent County Council’s Service for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (SUASC).

This is a joint NHS and Kent County Council venture to better support the mental health and emotional well-being of newly arrived unaccompanied asylum seeking children.

This is a 24 month apprenticeships based at SUASC’s Millbank Reception Centre in Ashford. In addition to the advertised salary, reasonable travel expenses will be paid for.

Applicants must have experience or understanding of being a Child in Care and working in a customer focused service.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team of social care staff supporting newly arrived young people begin the process of settling and integrating into a new country. Newly arrived young people can often present with mental health and emotional needs, some requiring specialist medical treatment and others that can be supported through information, guidance and peer support.

You will help SUASC staff better understand the lived experiences of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children by encouraging the young people to express their wishes and feelings, give them opportunities to participate in decision-making about service delivery and advocate for their voice to be heard.

Through reports and presentations the work you undertake will directly inform current and future Health and Social Care practice with unaccompanied asylum seeking children, not only in Kent but across the UK.

If you want to make a difference to young people’s lives and develop new skills, perhaps for a future in Social Care, then we would like to hear from you!
