SEND Inclusion Adviser
Role Responsibility
Kent's Education and Young People's Services requires a SEND Inclusion Adviser to provide specialist expertise to support schools in early identification of young people with additional educational needs, supporting the development and implementation of programs or packages of support to enable children and young people (CYP) to be maintained in mainstream settings wherever possible and without the need for an Education Health and Care (EHC) Plan.
You will use a multiagency approach to work with the local inclusion forum team (LIFT), working collaboratively with parents and carers, children and young people, schools and other stakeholders to support and challenge school inclusion, and the development of inclusive strategies and plans for individual students, cohorts and schools.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team with special educational needs staff in a range of educational establishments and from other KCC services as well as colleagues from health and social care. You will work across one or more districts within the North, East, South or West Kent areas.
To be considered for the role candidates are required to hold Qualified Teacher Status with relevant experience of primary or secondary class teaching, the successful completion of the National Award for SEN Coordination (or other relevant Post Graduate qualification in SEN) and experience of strategic development of SEND in a number schools, developing their capacity to meet the needs of SEN pupils.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
