SEN District Lead (Assessment and Placement)

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 full time District Leads for our North Kent Sevenoaks and West Kent Maidstone Offices.

Working within their defined geographical area, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing aspects of the Statutory Assessment process in relation to requests, re-assessments, amendments and complex placement decisions, working within statutory timescales.  The post requires a working knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.

You must be able to demonstrate your ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with children, young people and families or carers of children and young people undergoing statutory assessment.

The District Lead will support a team of Assessment & Placement Officers and District Assistants to ensure a high-quality service is delivered in relation to all processes for children and young people who have an Education Health Care Plan.

The department is an exciting and busy environment with multiple priorities where work needs to be carried out efficiently and at a fast pace. It is therefore essential that you thrive in a highly pressured, demanding environment and have a high level of resilience.

The role will involve working with sensitive information pertaining to Children and Young People from the age of 0 to 25 years, so an understanding of GDPR is essential.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
