Roaming Exam & Accreditation Officer

If so, you may be interested in joining Community Learning & Skills (often known as Kent Adult Education) as a part time Roaming Exams & Accreditation Officer.

Our Adult Education centres host tutors and students taking part in Kent Adult Education and Kent Training and Apprenticeships courses, who come to study a range of subjects from English, maths and IT to languages, including ESOL, and creative skills. We help people take the first steps in getting back into learning and work. We work with multiple awarding bodies and deliver a range of accreditation opportunities for our learners. 

Our Exam Officers, who form part of our Learner Experience team, play a pivotal role in the success of our learners’ progress. We have an opportunity for a part time Roaming Exam and Accreditation Officer to join our exams team in delivering the successful provision of exams across Kent.

While the role is a county-wide roaming role and there is an expectation that the post holder will be able to travel, at the time of writing, the bigger need is in mid / east Kent and we would anticipate that most time will be spent there. 

It is highly desirable that applicants have experience and working knowledge in accordance with the examination regulations within schools or colleges and are proficient users of exam software.

Your role

Your role, as a Roaming Exams Officer, will be to support our centre-based Exams Officers and to provide cover when needed. Your day to day will involve liaison with our education curriculum team regarding planning and the exam entries through to actual running of the exams. The role is highly interactive so there will be a mix of telephone, email and face to face communication.

You should have an eye for detail and accuracy and be comfortable in leading, guiding and directing staff and candidates in respect of the exams provision. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate prior experience with the organisation and administration of examinations including registrations and entries, delivery data analysis, organising an invigilation team and payment processing. The role is interesting, varied, and at times demanding so you’ll need to be able to work under your own initiative.

Due to the peripatetic nature of the post, your base will be negotiated on appointment, however, as this role is for a peripatetic Exam Officer, you will be expected to travel (either via private/public transport) to any of our Adult Education Centres to support or cover the centre Exam Officer role. These centres are located at: Ashford, Canterbury, Dartford, Dover, Folkestone, Gravesend, Maidstone, Margate, Sittingbourne, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells.
