Restorative Justice Practitioner
Role Responsibility
Full Time, Fixed Term Until 31st August 2023
Do you want to work in Youth Justice?
Can you successfully engage adolescents?
Kent County Council set up an Adolescent Response Team in August 2021 to enhance services to adolescents and their families. As part of the Adolescent Response Team we are looking for a Restorative Justice Practitioner (KR7) to cover the North and West of the county to support the work of our Youth Justice Team.
This role will serve three main functions:
- Create, organise and lead on a range of reparation projects that give something back to communities and build meaningful and constructive relationships with individuals, communities or community groups. Where possible projects should have an attached accreditation.
- Use restorative approaches to develop a child’s sense of victim empathy and to repair harm, while preventing shame, humiliation and development of offending identity.
- To contribute to managing contextual/extra-familial risks to adolescents.
RJ Practitioners will be expected to work flexibly, including some weekends, early evenings, and in typical holiday periods. Although this role is specifically for North/West Kent, an element of flexibility is required to cover for the counterpart role in the South/East when needed.
We’re trialling this new service for 2 years (from August 2021 – August 2023) and are looking for passionate, motivated, and skilled practitioners at a range of levels to join us during this exciting time. We will consider secondment opportunities for the right candidates.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working with us. We consider how long ago your offences were, your attitudes to offending and what you’ve learnt from your experiences.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
If you are interested, please apply as soon as possible as the closing date for this advert may be brought forward if/when a number of suitably qualified candidates apply.
Interviews are currently scheduled for week commencing the 18th of April 2022.
