QA Team Manager IRO Service

Role Responsibility

A great opportunity has arisen to be part of the Professional Standards and Safeguarding Unit as an IRO Manager. The IRO service is critical to driving improvements to bring about positive outcomes in children’s lives.  This is an exciting time to be joining the unit as you will be at the forefront of transformational change leading the IRO service to strengthen and improve services that matter most to children

Leading a team of IRO’s you will be accountable for the quality of the service that is offered to each individual looked after child. To achieve this you will provide oversight, professional advice and management support to each IRO. In addition, you will establish robust quality assurance mechanisms and undertake regular reviews of practice.

You will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the legal framework and care planning process governing how the local authority meets its responsibilities towards looked after children.

You will need to be a qualified social worker with post-qualifying experience of children and family social work including chairing complex meetings and managing social work teams. In addition, you will have excellent organisational skills alongside the capacity to meet demanding targets to ensure best outcomes for our children.

A key part of the management team, you will contribute to the creation of one organisational ethos and practice framework, working effectively in partnership with others, including partners from health, education and district Managers, to develop effective solutions to the challenges Kent County Council faces in achieving the best outcomes for our children.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
