Purchasing Assistant

Role Responsibility

This is an 8 month temporary position, working within the Community Care Purchasing team covering the West Kent area. It is an exciting role for a confident, proactive and positive individual, working within Adult Social Care.

The role will involve a wide range of purchasing community care tasks, requiring excellent administration, organisational and communication skills. You will be able to deal with issues of a confidential and sensitive nature appropriately. You will be confident in communicating with domiciliary care agencies, staff, managers and professionals, and prioritise your work.

You will provide an administrative support service to the Purchasing Team, assisting in the smooth running of the service and undertaking all relevant administrative duties as required. You will act as a first point of contact for the purchasing function, directing and answering queries as appropriate.

You will have excellent IT skills as tasks include inputting, invoice handling, updating, modifying and retrieving data on systems and running reports. The ability to problem-solve is essential as there is a need to investigate and resolve payment queries.

You will be confident, flexible, have an ability to work at pace, be able to work well within a busy team and prioritise your workload. You will be able to travel around the county in a timely manner if required. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic staff are currently working from home where possible. We will provide equipment and support through your distanced induction, however a good internet connection, confidential working space and a comfortable area at home would be needed.
