Public Health Training Support Officer

Role Responsibility

The Public Health Team are looking for an individual to join our team who is passionate about health and wellbeing and who can support us in the delivery of a county wide training packages.  The post will initially be a fixed term for one year from start date.

The Public Health Team offers a number of external training packages as well as manages the in-house needs of a team of qualified professionals of varying levels.  Training needs are often varied, and the role will need to be able to adapt their knowledge and practice to several scenarios.

We are looking for a highly skilled officer who will be responsible for coordinating and directing training activity, developing networks, promoting upcoming courses, and recruiting applicants.  Working closely with the Public Health Principle in Training and Workforce Development and the wider Public Health Team, this role will support the development and delivery of local training strategies and support the reduction of health inequalities.  This role requires a high degree of relationship building skills, excellent organisation skills, strong data skills and a passion for the local health and wellbeing.

The post holder will need to have broad knowledge and skills in:

  • Project management skills, establishing and managing training programmes.
  • Political awareness, diplomacy, and sensitivity
  • Understanding of governance and the importance of guidelines
  • Understanding of workforce development and establishing training and education programmes
  • Interpersonal, negotiation and leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, both in writing and verbally, in order to communicate with staff at all levels, internally and externally
