Public Health Officer
Role Responsibility
Are you passionate about health improvement? Do you want to help reducing obesity prevalence and tackle health inequalities in Kent? The Public Health Team is looking for a motivated and skilled individual to join us as a Public Health Officer, supporting the delivery of Kent’s Whole Systems Approach (WSO) to Healthy Weight Programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, system-wide programme that brings together partners from public, private, voluntary, and academic sectors to address obesity and its wider determinants. The role will involve programme delivery, coordinating actions, building partnerships, and supporting the development and growth of the Kent Healthy Weight Network.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support delivery of Whole Systems Approach (WSO) actions across Kent, ensuring agreed priorities are implemented on time and progress is regularly tracked and reported.
- Engage, support, and expand a multi-sector network of stakeholders, demonstrated through increased partnership participation and contribution to shared objectives.
- Promote and strengthen the Kent Healthy Weight Network, contributing to increased visibility, membership growth, and active stakeholder involvement.
- Plan and facilitate partnership meetings, workshops, and engagement events, achieving strong attendance, stakeholder feedback, and clear action outputs.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to drive system-wide action, evidenced by delivery of joint initiatives and progress against strategic goals.
- Analyse and apply data and public health intelligence to inform decision-making, monitor programme performance, and demonstrate impact through key indicators (e.g. reach, engagement, and outcomes).
About You:
We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual who brings:
- Strong partnership-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across sectors.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, including confidence in facilitating meetings and delivering presentations.
- Good analytical skills, with experience using data and insight to inform planning and decision-making.
- A strong commitment to improving population health, with a passion for reducing health inequalities and promoting healthy weight.
