Public Health Information Officer
Role Responsibility
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Public Health Observatory at Kent County Council.
The Public Health Information Officer provides important analytical support to better understand health needs in Kent, address health inequalities, and determine priorities for action. They support senior analysts and collaborate with the public health department across a broad range of work areas. For example, health needs assessments, programme evaluations, dataset management, presentation design, and website maintenance.
The post requires excellent numeracy and good written English skills. The ideal candidate will have experience of analysing complex datasets with an understanding of public health issues. This role is an ideal first step for those interested in pursuing a career in analytics and public health.
We provide a comprehensive training offer and encourage a supportive learning environment to share knowledge between team members. We continually innovate and improve. For example, the team creates reproducible analysis using programming languages such as R, SQL and Power BI for data visualization.

The successful applicant will have the option of remote-working but must be willing to work from Kent County Council’s Invicta House office in Maidstone at least 1 day per week.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
Interviews will be held in Maidstone during the week commencing 12th May. Depending on the number of applications, we may also invite candidates to attend a brief online discussion the week before.
