Provision Evaluation Officer

Role Responsibility

Specific areas/dimension: South, West and North Kent

Kent’s Education and Young People’s Services requires 7  SEND Provision Evaluation Officers to provide specialist expertise to enable the monitoring, evaluation and development of special educational needs provision in education provisions (including schools, colleges, Post 16 Specialist Providers)

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a range of educational establishments as part of a team within SEN and with other KCC services as well as colleagues from health and social care. The post holders will work across one or more districts within the North, East, South or West Kent areas.

The PEO team provide support and advice to educational establishments to ensure good outcomes for Children Young People (CYP) with SEND. We also monitor and evaluate the provision for individual children or young people with an Education Health and Care Plan or receiving SEN Support, we work collaboratively with parents and carers, children and young people, schools and other stakeholders.

It is essential that applicants hold a degree or Post Graduate degree with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and have successfully completed the National Award for SEN Coordination (or other relevant Post Graduate qualification in SEN). It is likely that applicants will have been a SENCO in more than one school and will have demonstrable experience of supporting other schools in developing their capacity to meet the needs of SEN pupils.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
