Programme Manager (Skills Bootcamps)

Role Responsibility

Are you an experienced programme manager with a passion for helping people to upskill, access and succeed in employment?

Kent County Council’s Economy Team is managing a new government programme called Skills Bootcamps which aims to help individuals upskill or re-skill to meet the needs of the local job market, improve productivity, and provide new ideas and perspectives.

We are looking for an experienced programme manager to oversee all aspects of the delivery of this high profile programme in Kent & Medway. This exciting role will involve managing a small programme delivery team  and taking responsibility for the day to day implementation of the programme.

The post holder will lead all aspects of the Kent & Medway Skills Bootcamp programme, ensuring successful delivery within planned timescales and budgets in line with grant agreement requirements. They will manage the internal Skills Bootcamps programme team and collaborate with other relevant KCC teams to ensure appropriate resourcing and support. 

The post holder will commission and manage service/training providers, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and engagement with local employers. They will track project progress, identify and monitor risks, resolve issues, and report regularly to the DFE and senior management. Additionally, they will develop and implement a communication plan, liaise with partner agencies and stakeholders, oversee quality monitoring and compliance activities, and ensure adherence to Health and Safety, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, GDPR, and Safeguarding / Prevent duties. 

The post holder will liaise with senior stakeholders, motivate and support delivery partners, manage a complex workload and make use of exceptional planning and organisational skills. The post holder will have sound knowledge of Kent and Medway’s skills challenges and barriers to accessing the labour market, robust project and programme management skills (activities and financial) and excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills.

The post will be based in Maidstone with hybrid / remote working but there will be a requirement to travel throughout the county regularly to meet with partners and training providers.
