Principal Planning and Infrastructure Officer

Role Responsibility

We are looking for an ambitious, organised and highly motivated individual who is looking for a new challenge, with the drive and enthusiasm to take a leading role in understanding and promoting the county’s infrastructure and growth needs on behalf of Kent County Council. You will work within the Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Service and will be expected to work with colleagues and services across the County Council to help establish the County Council’s position on planning and growth.

Working within the Growth and Communities Division, the post holder will take the lead in building strong and productive relationships with Local Planning Authorities and other stakeholders across Kent. You will also be expected to take the lead in coordinating responses to strategic planning applications, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects, Local Plans and other related planning consultations. You will also be expected to take a leading role in responding and influencing emerging national policy and legislation, in the backdrop of local government reform and devolution.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate a proven ability to work within a complex and varied environment. Your innovative and flexible approach to the role will enable you to successfully meet outcomes and will make an impact on the planning, infrastructure and growth matters of the Council. This role will enable you to make a difference to Kent’s residents, communities and businesses.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
