Principal IT Auditor

Role Responsibility

We are looking for a committed person to take our delivery of IT Audit to the next level. Our Internal Audit team provides high quality audit services for Kent County Council as one of the largest Councils in the UK and other clients including other Councils, the Fire and Rescue Service and Local Authority Owned Companies.

Following a recent restructure, we are delighted to be able to recruit for an experienced and motivated IT Specialist Principal Auditor to strengthen our Internal Audit and Counter Fraud team. 

You will endeavour to deliver insightful and value adding audits that help improve the way the Council and its companies operate, including looking to identify opportunities for processes to be more efficient and effective.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A recognised IT qualification such as CISSP or CISA
  • Significant experience in IT Audit, for example cyber security, iT infrastructure and network security
  • A good knowledge of relevant standards for Information security and IT service management (e.g., ISO27001 and ITIL)
  • Confident communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience of working effectively with colleagues
  • The ability to manage a varied and complex workload, whilst meeting multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of the internal audit processes and relevant professional standards
  • The ability to produce work to the required standard and within agreed timelines
  • Great organisational skills and be self-disciplined, self-motivated, and reliable
  • A motivated, positive and flexible approach
  • An understanding of the need to maintain high levels of confidentiality and integrity at all times
  • Stakeholder relationship management experience and be regarded as a trusted advisor
  • An ability to continually develop the provision of IT audit services to all stakeholders and clients
  • Experience of supervising and motivating staff

This role will be based in Maidstone, however remote working is a central to how we operate.

There will be a requirement to visit external clients across the County.

The successful candidate must pass a basic disclosure and barring security check.
